Police Arrest 2nd Suspect in Motel 7 Murder Following Shooting Death of Aaron Vu, 10

Police have identified and arrested the second suspect involved in a Motel 7 shooting in North Miami.

Terry Allen Nealy, 22, along with Anthawn Ragan, 19, were involved in the Nov. 1 murder of Luis Perez at the motel located at 13445 NW 7th Ave, North Miami Police said Sunday.

Ragan and Nealy arrived at the Motel 7 and shot the 21-year-old victim twice at close range, according to police. Authorities said Nealy confessed to the crime.

Ragan was recently charged with this homicide after police charged him in the Nov. 22 murder of 10-year-old Aaron Vu during an armed robbery at a Northwest Miami-Dade nail salon.

Police are still looking for a second victim in the nail salon shooting, but have not confirmed if it was Nealy.

"From the very beginning we thought anyone associated with Anthawn Ragan, anyone committing the crimes he was has the potential to have been involved in these crimes as well," said North Miami Police Major Neal Cuevas.

Ragan and the other suspect barged into the salon, demanded cash and valuables at gunpoint and then fired into the store as they fled, police said. Aaron Vu died at the hospital from gunshot wounds. His father, Hai Vu, was shot but survived.

Ragan was arrested four days later and faces charges that include first-degree murder with a firearm.

As for the Motel 7 case, Perez was living at the motel when he was killed. He appeared in bond court in March for marijuana possession, but the charge was dismissed.

Police said the motive does not appear to be robbery because a witness heard Ragan shout "f--- we here for you!"

"I ask that justice is done," said Perez's mother, Madresita Figueroa. "That my 21-year-old son and that 10-year-old boy didn't die in vain. Get these people off the street."

Miami Police have also confirmed that Ragan was arrested Nov. 4 for an Oct. 23 store robbery.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
