Hollywood Beach Man Fatally Stabbed, Suspect Arrested: Police

Hollywood Police arrested a man they say stabbed and killed another man Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m. at a pavilion located at Charnow Park on Hollywood Beach.

Once there, officers discovered a man suffering from multiple stab wounds to the abdomen. Witnesses told detectives the stabbing occurred during an altercation with another man.

Officers say witnesses saw the suspect flee the scene on a bicycle on the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk. Officers noticed an individual matching the description of the suspect riding a bicycle near Grant Street and North Ocean Drive and took him into custody.

The individual, who was carrying a knife, was later identified as 60-year-old Clarence Michel Martin. A witness identified Martin as the suspect who stabbed the victim and fled the scene on the bicycle.

Martin admitted to detectives to stabbing the victim during an altercation, police say. He is being charged with one count of premeditated murder.

Hollywood Fire Rescue transported the victim to Memorial Regional Hospital in critical condition. The victim was later pronounced dead.

The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
