Police, Family Plead For Answers in Murder of Good Samaritan in Pembroke Park

Police have released new video in the case of a Good Samaritan who was shot to death in Pembroke Park last Friday – and for the first time, that man's wife is speaking out and pleading for justice.

The shooting happened one week ago near the 5500 block of West Hallandale Blvd. when Phillip Antonino saw the suspect berating a homeless elderly man right outside his business. When he told the suspect to back off, the man fired multiple shots at Antonino.

“In the morning, he left home happy,” Said Anna Antonino, the man’s widow. “We just kissed and he went to work like he always did and he never came back.”

“Mr. Antonino, I believe, did not really believe the suspect had a gun,” said Broward Sheriff’s Office Detective Valerian Perez. “So, unfortunately, we know how the story ends.”

Employees at the body shop described their boss as a kind person who would help anyone in need. Now, his wife is asking for the public to help find her husband’s killer.

“Please get him off the streets because it's going to happen to somebody else,” Anna Antonino said.

Homicide detectives describe the suspect as a black male with a thin build and a dark complexion, possibly in his 30s and approximately 5’8” inches tall. He is bald and wore black jeans and a long-sleeve black shirt with white text on the sleeves.

Police also say two witnesses were captured in surveillance video and they are attempting to talk to them. Anyone with information is urged to call Broward CrimeStoppers at 954-453-TIPS.
