The FBI is investigating after two children and their caretaker were possibly abducted Thursday from a home in southwest Miami-Dade.
Miami-Dade Police responded after 2:30 p.m. to a home near Southwest 87th Avenue and Bird Road.
Hours later, a 3-year-old girl, a 5-year-old girl, and a woman in her 40s were found safe just two miles away, authorities said.
The FBI later took over the investigation but did not give any further information "as this matter is still an active investigation," the agency said in a statement.

A man who lives at the home said the kidnapping victims were his roommate's kids. Eric Ison said he was at work when he saw on security cameras some activity happening in front of the home.
"My roommate’s kids, they got abducted. I checked the cameras and I see there’s many people in our driveway," Ison said. “It was about six people involved. I have no idea why they would target us. They wanted something.”
Ison said he rushed home but by the time he got there it was too late, everyone was gone. He said the incident didn't end there, and that the kids' mother was taken from her workplace, a Domino's Pizza.

“They took her right over the counter, gone. Right in broad daylight," he said.
The neighborhood was blocked off for hours for the investigation.
Ison said he has no idea who the kidnappers would be or why they would target his roommate, but said he's glad the kids are alright.
"Kids are great, they’re fine. It seems like they were in good hands the entire time. They were in good spirits, they were smiling, no crying or anything," Ison said.
