Police have released new details in the gruesome murder of a woman whose body was found along the side of the road in Northwest Miami.

Officers said the body was found near Northwest 25th Avenue and 38th Street early Wednesday morning.

"At approximately 6:20 in the morning, a citizen that was walking by observed the body of a white female laying on the sidewalk and called police. Once we arrived we saw there was a white adult female that was just laying on the sidewalk. Fire rescue was called and pronounced her dead on the scene," Miami Police spokesman Michael Vega said.

Surveillance footage from a nearby business showed a dark-colored Honda pull up to the area before the driver dumps what appears to be a body out of the passenger side, then drives off.

The victim was identified as 42-year-old Ann Farran. On Saturday, the Miami Police Homicide Unit arrested 38-year-old Juan Carlos Hernandez-Caseres in connection to the murder.

Hernandez-Caseres told police he met the victim for "the purpose of offering money to pay for sex," an arrest report said. According to Hernandez-Caseres, the pair started arguing and he became enraged, punching the victim in the throat and neck. He then told police he left the woman's unconscious body on the sidewalk.

The cause of death was determined to be strangulation, according to the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner.
