Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a woman walking along Ocean Drive in Deerfield Beach Friday, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said Tina Cagnana was walking with her daughter in the 600 block of South Ocean Drive when a Ford F-150 pickup truck suddenly veered off the roadway and struck the 47-year-old woman. Cagnana, who was walking in the bike lane at the time, was transported to Broward Health North. She was later pronounced dead, authorities said.
The fatal incident occurred at around 8:15 p.m. Friday. The following morning, at around 2:30 a.m., deputies discovered a Ford F-150 in a 7-Eleven parking lot that matched the vehicle description. The driver of the car was discovered to be intoxicated and was arrested for driving under the influence.
BSO is continuing to investigate the hit-and-run crash.
