Alleged Armed Robbery Leads to Fatal Police-Involved Shooting in Lauderhill

Police shot and killed a man they say was involved in an armed robbery Sunday night in Lauderhill following a search involving several different agencies.

According to a report from the Lauderhill Police Department, an officer was flagged down by a person who said that a man wearing dark clothing pointed a gun at him and stole the victim’s book bag near the 800 block of State Road 7.

Police from Plantation, where the robbery occurred, took over the investigation while the Lauderhill officer searched the area where the alleged robber was last seen before encountering someone who matched that suspect’s description.

Officers from both departments, as well as Davie Police K-9 units, arrived at a home near Northwest 39th Avenue where shots were fired and the alleged robber was later found dead with a gun found nearby, officials said.

No officers were injured and Lauderhill PD officials said it was not one of their officers who fired shots at the suspect. All officers involved will be placed on administrative leave and the FDLE has taken the lead in the case’s investigation.
