Police Look for Miami Gardens Shooting Suspect

Forty-year-old Brenda Smith said she is moving out of her Miami Gardens house for some time after she said her ex-boyfriend shot her and her sister Wednesday night.

“My sister had company and he didn’t like it; so he took it out on everybody,” Smith said.

While the shooting was going on, Brenda’s seven-year-old daughter hid inside a closet, but saw all of the violence go down. The young girl ran out of her house to a gas station next door where a worker found her crying saying her mother and aunt had been shot.

Miami Gardens Police are not releasing a lot of details about the alleged shooter, 60-year-old Bert Smith. Neighbors said the man wasn’t friendly and Brenda wants him found soon.

“He should turn himself in, I just pray the police find him,” Smith said. “I don’t think he’ll come back here because she’s running scared.”

If you have any information about the shooting or the whereabouts of Bert Smith, call Miami Gardens Police or Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
