A man was arrested in connection to a violent home invasion in Coral Gables last month.
Jorge Ian Montero, 48, was already in federal custody in Broward County when detectives linked him to the home invasion. He was previously arrested in a separate drug trafficking case. He was later charged with robbery for the July incident.
Police were looking for Montero after he allegedly robbed a couple at gunpoint at a home in the 800 block of Navarre Avenue. Detectives believe the couple was followed to their home from Versailles restaurant in Little Havana by the suspect, who displayed a small handgun and demanded their jewelry before fleeing the home.
A neighbor said this was the second time the couple fell victim to an armed thief.
