Police in Davie are investigating a rollover wreck that left one person dead and are looking for a motorcycle rider who may have witnessed the crash.
The crash happened around 10:45 p.m. Saturday at 11100 Griffin Road, Davie Police officials said. Police said a white BMW was traveling eastbound on Griffin Road at a high rate of speed when the lost control and the car went into a ditch, rolling over several times.
One of the car's passengers was ejected, struck a tree and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and another passenger were hospitalized in critical condition. Their names haven't been released.
"We believe that this vehicle was traveling at a very high rate of speed, and unfortunately things like this happen when you don't obey the laws that are put in place for that reason," Davie Police Sgt. Mark Leone said.
According to police, just before the crash, a motorcycle had been driving erratically on Griffin Road. A witness captured the motorcyclist on video at the Intersection of Griffin and Flamingo Road that shows the BMW turning onto Griffin as the motorcycle proceeds through the intersection.
The end of the video shows the motorcycle and BMW driving away, picking up speed.
Police said the motorcyclist may be a witness to the crash and are asking anyone who can identify him to call them at 954-693-8200.
