A "misunderstanding" over a reported trespasser who turned out to be a student led to a lockdown and massive police response at a Pompano Beach high school Thursday afternoon.
Officers swarmed Blanche Ely High School on Northwest 6th Avenue after Broward Sheriff’s Office officials say they received a call of a man trespassing on school grounds.
Footage showed SWAT team members walking through the school's parking lot with weapons drawn.
Officials said the person who allegedly trespassed was found and was identified as a student.
The school was placed on lockdown but the lockdown was later lifted.
"They said 'code red' and everybody took off to the gym," junior Keavan Walker said. "I was scared for my life."
