A bomb squad responded after what turned out to be a training grenade was found at a Waste Management facility in Pembroke Pines Monday, police said.
The item was found at the facility at 20701 Pembroke Road during garbage sorting, Pembroke Pines Police officials said.
The Broward Sheriff's Office bomb squad responded to assist officers in securing and removing the item, officials said.
Police later confirmed that the grenade was used in training and was not a live grenade.
