Postal Worker Assaulted & Robbed in Pembroke Park

A United States Postal Service worker is in the hospital after he was assaulted and robbed in Pembroke Park, according to deputies.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. at 3400 SW 52 Ave., Broward Sheriff's Office officials said.

The postal worker who has been a letter carrier for 20 years said he was attacked from behind and his mail keys were stolen.

He was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital where he is in stable condition suffering from head wounds.

"Striking a postal worker, striking a federal employee, you're looking at federal consequences," said U.S. Postal Inspector Ivan Rodriguez.
