Republicans Raise More Than $800K for Scott Inauguration

Florida Republicans say they collected nearly $850,000 to pay for the inauguration of Gov. Rick Scott.

The Republican Party of Florida reported Friday that it had received some additional donations the day before Scott was sworn into office. Scott started his second term on Tuesday.

Some of the last-minute donors included the Seminole Tribe of Florida. The tribe donated $25,000 just months before key portions of the tribe's gambling compact with the state is due to expire.

Scott's inauguration was smaller than it was four years ago. But the governor did have a formal black tie reception at the mansion.

Most of the donors who paid for inaugural events wrote large checks. Many of the donors were corporations and others who have an interest in what happens in state government.
