Robbers Hit Weston Walgreens for $4,000 Worth of Opioids

The Broward County Sherrif's Office said it is looking for two men who broke into a Weston Walgreens and stole about $4,000 worth of opioids like oxycodone and morphine.

Police said the men used a yellow crowbar to pry open the Walgreen's front doors. They rushed toward the pharmacy and forced open the security gate to jump over the counter.

Their target: painkillers and pills.

"These men knew exactly what to do to break into the building and exactly where to go to find what they were looking for." BSO public information officer Gina Carter said. "Even though they were trying to disguise their identity by covering their faces – just because of their [mode of operating] or the way they were moving someone might recognize them."

The theft comes after President Donald Trump declared the opioid crisis a public health emergency.
