Who says public transportation in Miami is useless?

Miami Police are looking for a man who allegedly tried to rob a jewelry store then made his getaway on the Metrorail.

The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. on the 200 block of N. Miami Ave., when an armed man went into a jewelry store and asked to see some items.

According to police, as the man was about to run out, an officer walked into the store, and the suspect threw the items at the officer and dashed out.

The suspect hopped in a waiting car with a woman behind the wheel and took off.

The car was found a short distance away, and the woman was taken into custody.

But police say the man hopped onto a southbound Metrorail at the Government Center Station to make his slow escape.

Authorities believe the man got off at the Coconut Grove Station near Southwest 27th AVe. and South Dixie Highway. Officers had set up a perimeter in that area in an effort to catch the suspect.

Miami Police said they believe the suspect is armed and dangerous.
