Rubio Talks Debt Ceiling Mess on YouTube

Florida Senator goes online to discuss and answer questions

As the debt ceiling mess continues in Washington D.C., Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is taking to YouTube to answer questions from constituents.

The junior Senator from South Florida said he's been receiving thousands of letters from across the Sunshine State each week from people who want to voice their opinions on the issue.

Rubio has been reading and answering questions in weekly videos posted to the site.

"Many of the letters are starting to have a common theme and it's a frustration about Washington not moving forward and quite frankly some fear about what it means to people in their daily lives," Rubio said in the latest video, posted Thursday.

On Friday, President Barack Obama held a news conference to discuss ways to resolve the debt ceiling problem, saying that time was running out.

The president urged Democrats and Republicans in the Senate to come together on a plan that can pass the House and that he can sign.

He spoke at the White House as a bill by Republican House Speaker John Boehner to lift the debt ceiling and slash spending remained unexpectedly stalled after Boehner failed to muster the necessary votes. Obama said, "We're almost out of time."

Republicans were set to try again Friday and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced plans to move forward on a rival measure ahead of the Tuesday deadline to act or face unprecedented default.
