Sanford Wants to Delay Pot Dispensaries

The city of Sanford may delay the opening of any pot dispensaries if Florida voters approve an amendment to legalize medical marijuana.

City commissioners on Monday voted to ask city staffers to establish a six-month moratorium on the opening of any medical marijuana dispensaries within city limits.

The moratorium could be extended for another six months if city commissioners deem it necessary.

City officials say they need the time to decide on regulations if the medical marijuana amendment passes next week.

Commissioners in this Orlando suburb plan to vote on a moratorium in December, if the amendment passes.
