Search For Missing Doral Mother and Daughter Intensifies

With each passing day it becomes harder and harder to understand what happened to missing mother Liliana Moreno and her nine-year-old daughter Daniela.

"They're searching every day," said Scott Vega, volunteer investigator and owner of Strike Force Canine.

The search intensified Saturday as family members and volunteers scoured various places of interest, including a wooded area near 97th avenue and 154th street in Hialeah.

"It's an area of interest because she has frequented this area," said Vega.

The pair haven't been seen or heard from in over a week. Multiple agencies have searched the Everglades and waterways in Hialeah Gardens, but nothing has turned up.

Family friend Aislinn Dias says: "It's so surreal, it's hard. We try to stay strong and positive and pray as hard as we can."

"Myself along with the family, we have hopes that she might still be alive, but as time goes by it's a problematic situation," said Vega. ""Every little bit of information counts and it helps."

A situation that cops say could involve foul play--Moreno's car and purse with her driver's license were found at her Doral home leading investigators to believe that she left in a hurry.

The girl's father, Gustavo Castano, lost his eye when police used a taser to stop him from harming himself last Friday near a Hialeah Gardens Home Depot. Castano is recovering in the hospital and his lawyer claims the father wants the pair home safely.

Family members are hoping for any leads.

Police are urging the public to keep an eye out and come forward if you have any information as to the whereabouts of this mother and daughter.
