Security Guard Arrested in Sexual Battery Attempts in Coral Springs: Police

Dante M. Collins, 25, was arrested Sunday in connection with the recent attacks in the Wyndham Lakes neighborhood, Coral Springs Police officials said

Police have arrested a security guard who they say admitted to trying to sexually batter several women in Coral Springs.

Dante M. Collins, 25, was arrested Sunday in connection with the recent attacks in the Wyndham Lakes neighborhood, Coral Springs Police officials said.

Police said Collins, who worked as a security guard at an industrial park in Coral Springs, admitted to trying to attack close to 10 women in the neighborhood.

Authorities released a sketch of the suspect earlier this month after a woman said she was grabbed from behind and pushed to the ground as she was walking along Wyndham Lakes Boulevard on April 9. She said she screamed for help and kicked the suspect, who fled the scene. A similar incident was reported in the community in February.

When Collins was interviewed by detectives, he gave a full confession to both attacks, police said. Collins said he knew he had a "problem" and was "deeply sorry for what I have done," an arrest report said.

According to the report, Collins said he attempted to attack between five and ten women, and admitted to detectives that the number was "closer to ten."

Collins was charged with attempted sexual battery and loitering and prowling, and was being held on $250,000 bond Monday, Broward County jail records showed. Attorney information wasn't available.
