A security guard was shot early Friday during a suspected robbery at a Coconut Grove hotel that's been closed for construction.
The incident happened at the property at 2649 S. Bayshore Drive, Miami Police officials said.
Officials said the guard, who is in his 70s, was inside the hotel when he was shot in the leg by a suspect. He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he was undergoing surgery.
Police haven't released the guard's name or a description of the gunman.
