A serial burglar connected to at least five crimes in Coral Gables was behind bars Wednesday, police said.
Jose Luis Otero, 44, is facing several burglary and grand theft charges following his arrest Monday, Coral Gables Police said.
Otero was being held on $70,000 bond Wednesday, jail records showed. It was unknown if he has an attorney.
According to police, a resident of the Fountains Apartments at 235 Sidonia Avenue called 911 around 3:20 a.m. Monday to report a suspicious man loitering in the gated underground parking garage.
Officers heard glass breaking and found Otero in the rear of a BMW X5 which had its window broken, police said. He was in the process of removing a gray bicycle.
Otero was arrested and charged with burglary to a structure, burglary to a conveyance and possession of burglary tools.
Police were later able to link Otero to four other burglaries and thefts, officials said. The case remains under investigation.
