Several Rifles, Handguns Stolen From Truck: Davie Police

Davie Police are looking for a man who was caught on camera stealing numerous firearms from a truck in a parking lot over the weekend.

The burglary happened Saturday afternoon in the parking lot of a shopping plaza at 15801 Sheridan Street in Southwest Ranches, police said Wednesday.

One of the victims told NBC 6 he and his friends were on their way to a gun range and had stopped for sushi first. While they were inside the restaurant, the thief made his move.

According to a police report, the suspect stole four rifles, three handguns and other items from the Ford F-150. A witness recorded the daylight burglary.

"We're looking at any connection that the suspect may have known to the victim," Davie Police Capt. Dale Engle said. "Obviously there was something that led him to believe that there were weapons in that car. It seemed very deliberate."

Police described the suspect as a black male, 6 feet tall, between 275-300 pounds. He was wearing gloves, a shirt and tie and khaki pants, and had removed the license plate from his gold Volkswagen, police said.

"It's not too often you see someone with a shirt and tie breaking into a car," Engle said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
