Shorthanded Heat Fall to Celtics

The Heat were hampered by injuries in their 112-104 loss to the Celtics on Monday

The Miami Heat were unable to overcome a depleted roster in their 112-104 loss to the Boston Celtics on Monday.

Miami was playing without Dion Waiters, Tyler Johnson and Justise Winslow and it showed. The Heat only used nine players total and had a patchwork starting lineup. Miami's starting five in the loss were Derrick Williams, Luke Babbitt, Hassan Whiteside, Goran Dragic and Rodney McGruder.

The loss for the Heat was another one in their home building as well. Miami is now 2-7 at American Airlines Arena this season and a paltry 5-12 overall. The Heat have actually played better on the road so far on the year.

Dragic was tasked with being Miami's main attacker for most of the game and ended up throwing up the most attempts. The guard went 8-15 on his field goal tries and ended up 27 points. Dragic also had 16 assists and did all he could to keep Miami in the game.

Hassan Whiteside had a solid game as well with yet another double-double. Whiteside ended his night with 25 points and 17 rebounds along with a blocked shot.

Josh Richardson was back on the bench for this one and led the reserves in points. The guard ended up with 12 points and a pair of steals in his 29 minutes. Richardson could find himself back in the starting lineup in the near future.

Miami will head back on the road for a game against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday.
