Small Plane Lands On Highway Near Orlando After Running Out of Gas

A small plane landed on Interstate 4 near Orlando after running out of gas on Friday, WESH 2 News reported.

The emergency landing occurred in Longwood at about 3:45 p.m. The section on which the plane landed is newly paved and had not yet been opened for traffic.

Officials said the pilot attempted to land on a golf course, but chose I-4 when he realized he would not reach the destination, WESH added.

"He did an amazing job," a witness said of the pilot.

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office said no one was injured and there was no damage to the plane or any vehicles.

The Federal Aviation Administration has launched an investigation.
