Small Plane Makes Belly Landing at South Florida Airport

Officials say a small plane was forced to make an emergency landing at a South Florida airport after the pilot reported a problem with the landing gear.

Broward County Aviation Department spokesman Greg Meyer tells media outlets the plane's pilot was forced to make a belly landing Wednesday afternoon on one of the runaways at North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines after the landing gear didn't deploy.

Meyer says the pilot, 79-year-old Herbert Reiskin of Hollywood, wasn't injured.

Meyer says Reiskin keeps his plane in one of the hangars at the airport.

Officials describe the aircraft as a 1956 twin-propeller plane.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
