Hundreds Line Up Overnight for Black Friday Shopping in South Florida

Hundreds of people in South Florida waited in line overnight at numerous malls in anticipation of Black Friday shopping – hopefully on a full stomach.

Customers began arriving and camping out at stores as early as Wednesday afternoon, including at the Best Buy location in Hialeah. While some stores are keeping doors closed for the holiday, others opened Thursday afternoon to allow customers to cash in on the savings before the traditional shopping day.

Stores and malls throughout the United States are opening early for Black Friday shopping.

In South Florida, Dadeland Mall opened at 6 a.m. and will close at 10 p.m.; Sawgrass Mills Mall and Aventura Mall will both open at 7 a.m. and close at 10 p.m.; and Dolphin Mall will open at 8 a.m. and close at 11 p.m.

This year, 26 percent of shoppers say they will head to the stores Thursday while another 29 percent say they will shop online according to a survey from Deloitte. The National Retail Federation said 154 million people will go shopping at some point this weekend.
