A 47-year-old man is lucky to be alive after being mauled and dragged underwater by an alligator at Lake Okeechobee.
Antonio Prado was using a net to catch fish at the South Florida lake yesterday afternoon when he was attacked by the alligator, which bit him on his chest and arm.
The gator kept a firm grip on Prado, and was about to make lunch out of him when Prado's son threw a pair of pliers at the gator, causing it to release his dad.
Prado was taken to a nearby hospital in Fort Pierce where he underwent emergency surgery.
