South Florida Celebrates Earth Day

President Obama's trip to Florida's Everglades National Park coincides with Earth Day, April 22nd.

Considered the birth of the modern environmental movement, Earth Day launched in 1970 with the mission of putting environmental concerns front and center.

Since then, it's helped pave the way for the United States Environmental Protection Agency, and the passage of the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species Acts.

The possibilities for how you can participate in Earth Day are endless! From volunteering on a clean up project to planting a tree to launching a community garden, there are so many ways to do something nice for Mother Earth today and every day!

We want to see your Earth Day beauty shots, and find out how you, your family, your school or your workplace are celebrating Earth Day across South Florida!

Email your Earth Day photos to isee@nbc6.com or Tweet/Instagram us using the hashtags #EarthDay and #NBC6. We may use your photos in a gallery on our website!
