South Florida Goes into “Cold Weather Mode” Again

Temps could drop below freezing tonight

Just because the rest of the country is blanketed with snow doesn't mean it isn't dreadfully cold in South Florida.

Government agencies have once again launched Operation Cold Front, opening shelters and issuing cold weather emergencies as if a blizzard was on the way.

Temperatures are expected to dip into the 30s tonight, which will last through the morning. That sounds like blizzard conditions to us.

Throughout the state hard freeze warnings and cold weather emergencies are being declared as temps could drop well below freezing. But Florida's issues are mild when compared to the rest of the country.

Of the 50 states, Florida is the only one without a drop of snow, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reported Wednesday. Even Hawaii had some snow flakes drop on one of their dormant volcanoes. Nearly 70 percent of the country is covered in the white stuff.

We don't think the rest of the country is shedding a frozen tear for Miami.
