South Florida Man Who Threatened to Post Teen’s Topless Photo to Pornographic Website Charged With Extortion: Police

Ricardo Carrion arrested after demanding $200 in exchange for not posting racy pic on pornographic website: Coral Springs Police.

A South Florida man who threatened to post a teen girl's topless photo on a pornographic website unless she paid him is facing an extortion charge, police said.

Ricardo Antonio Carrion, 18, was arrested back on Oct. 16 after he sent the girl a text message demanding $200 in exchange for not posting the pic on the website, according to a Coral Springs Police report released Thursday.

According to police, the girl had sent the racy photo to Carrion two years ago.

"They were both 16-years-old at the time at which time she actually send him a photo of her breasts in order to try and get him to like her," said Lt. Joe McHugh with the Coral Springs Police Department.

Then on Oct. 16 of this year, Carrion texted the girl demanding the money.

The victim called police but said she only knew Carrion as "Ricky." Using his phone number, police were able to track him down and met him at his work, the report said.

When police met with Carrion and searched his phone, they found the message he had sent to the victim demanding the money and Carrion was arrested, the report said.

Detectives questioned Carrion who admitted to texting the teen and demanding the extortion payment. Carrion was book into jail and later released, and it was unknown whether he has an attorney.

No one at Carrion's home wanted to comment, but his next door neighbor said she was shocked by his actions.

"It's disgusting, it really is," said Maria Schneider. "Of course it is surprising, you would hope that people know better nowadays."

Authorities said parents need to monitor their children's cell phones to avoid choices that could haunt them for a lifetime.

"In addition, always review Facebook and Twitter to make sure they are not putting anything inappropriate on there," McHugh said.
