‘I Don't Want to Die': South Florida Man's Plea for Spinal Surgery Going Viral

Hunt’s spine is curving and may soon cause damage to his organs, including his liver, lungs and heart

Terrance Hunt, a 29-year-old man from Coral Springs, has been confined to a wheelchair for 18 years. Hunt says when he was just 11 years old, when he was struck by an elderly woman who wasn’t supposed to be behind the wheel.

“She was going 65 in a 25 mph lane and she struck me with a car,” Hunt recalled. “After the car accident, I basically died twice."

Paramedics revived Hunt while he was still on scene and again during surgery.

Years later, Hunt now suffers from a severe spinal cord injury from the accident that left him disabled.

“It’s at a 60 degree angle,” Hunt said. “When I spoke to the doctor he said it would be fatal once it hits 80 degrees.”

Hunt’s spine is curving and may soon cause damage to his organs, including his liver, lungs and heart.

Hunt posted a video on social media and created a GoFundMe campaign in a public plea to help him pay for the $200,000 surgery – a plea that is going viral. The video he posted on Twitter has been retweeted thousands of times and the crowd-funding campaign has raised thousands of dollars.

Through his struggle and disability, Hunt hasn’t given up on life. He recently got married, and enjoys creating social media videos to help clear his mind and inspire others.

“I do comedy skits just to show people not to have life get you down. I have a lot of people with disabilities that get in my DMs and talk to me about and tell me I’m confident and have so much courage, and they tell me their stories.”
