A pregnant South Florida woman is suing the ridesharing service Lyft over the death of her husband, who was struck and killed by a Lyft car on Halloween while riding his motorcycle in Miami.
Police said a Lyft driver failed to yield the right-of-way when he made a left turn and collided with Leo Perez's motorcycle.
The wrongful death lawsuit, announced in a press conference Thursday, accuses Lyft of hiring untrained drivers who are constantly distracted and fatigued on the road.
Lyft provided NBC 6 with the following statement: "We are not commenting on the suit, but our hearts go out to all involved in this tragic accident."
Perez's wife, Poliana, is due to deliver the couple's child on Monday.
