Southwest Florida Address Mistakenly Posted as Being Involved With Murder of Rapper XXXTentacion

Incorrect social media posts linking a Southwest Florida address to the death of popular rapper and Broward native XXXTentacion have led police to increase security around the home – where a couple in their 70s live.

Police in Cape Coral, located near Fort Myers, responded to the home and questioned those inside – 73-year-old Laura Bernard and her 76-year-old husband – and determined no one was connected to the shooting earlier this week in Deerfield Beach where the 20-year-old, whose real name is Jahseh Onfroy, was shot in his car outside of a motorcycle shop.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office and the city’s police department have played additional officers at the Bernard’s home after social media accounts listed it as a possible location where another rapper named Soldier Kidd may be living, according to NBC affiliate WBBH-TV.

"I don't even know what Twitter is, to be honest with you. And I don't know Instagram,” Bernard told the station.

One arrest was made for loitering and prowling, with police agencies urging people not to come to the home and bother the family.

"I'm 73-years-old. My husband in 76," said Benard. "The most dangerous things we have in our house are a bocce ball and tiles."
