What to Know

  • A 28-year-old Naples residents is beyond bars after allegedly threatening to smash the skull of a corrections officer.

Sheriff's investigators say a man went to the home of a corrections officer in Florida and threatened to kill him.

A Collier County Sheriff's report says David Cleaves was mowing his lawn Tuesday when he saw 28-year-old Michael Affleck. He told investigators Affleck disappeared for a few minutes and then reappeared about 8 feet away from him.

The Naples Daily News reports Affleck threatened to throw a landscaping brick through the officer's skull.

The arrest report says Cleaves drove away on his lawnmower. When deputies arrived, they say Affleck continued to act in an aggressive manner and threatened them, too. He was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assaulting a law enforcement officer.

He remains in jail. Records don't say whether he has a lawyer.
