A school in southwest Miami-Dade was evacuated Thursday morning after reports of a possible threat.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials confirmed they responded to a call of an "explosive alert" at Somerset Academy, located at 5876 Southwest 68th Street, just after 9:30 a.m.

South Miami Police officials said someone called the school, a secretary answered the phone and the male caller stated that there were several pipe bombs at the school that would be "going off soon."

A security guard took the phone and asked the caller for his name, and the caller said “you don’t need to know that and you’re all going to die," police said.

The school was evacuated and the Miami-Dade Police Department's bomb squad responded to the scene to sweep the school.

The students were taken to a community center a block away from the school. Footage showed a large group of parents outside the center.

No other information was immediately known.
