Spooks and Scares at Dr. Wilde's Creepy House in Zoo Miami

Few animals will be in sight Friday night at Zoo Miami as it transforms into a haunted Halloween adventure for “Spooky Zoo Nights.”

The main attraction is Dr. Wilde's Creepy House, which features professional actors, scary props, and frightening sounds.

"It was terrifying," said Lauren Serrano.

“That was scary, there were things popping out of nowhere," said Christina Mullings.

Even though the event is family-friendly, staff members at the zoo recommend you enter Dr. Wilde's Creepy House at your own risk.

”We do ask parents to use the haunted house at their discretion, the haunted house is geared a little bit toward (an) older child,” said Cindy Castelblanco, the director of marketing at Zoo Miami.

The haunted house isn't all the zoo has to offer Friday night. Its after-hours family event also features spooky tram rides and carousel rides.

”I think it's so much fun for the kids, we have a great time, every time we come here,” said mother Carmela Mullings.

Costumes are not encouraged for the event, but if you want to dress up, there's a whole weekend planned for that. This weekend, children 12 and under can come to the zoo and trick or treat for “Zoo Boo.”

If the sound of chainsaws and a look at bloody bodies doesn't frighten you, you may want to check out the zoo’s newest event, “Halloween Fright Night.”

"On October 31st is a brand-new event that we have geared toward young adults. We want to do like a mini Halloween Horror Nights," said Castelblanco.

“Spooky Zoo Nights” will be open on Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets are $10.95 per person. Zoo Miami encourages visitors to buy tickets online at a discounted price to skip the long lines at the zoo.

“Zoo Boo” will be held on Saturday and Sunday, with doors opening at 11 a.m. The event is included with paid zoo admission, which is $15.95 per adult and $11.95 per child.

“Halloween Fright Night” will be held on the haunting holiday itself, Oct. 31, from 8 p.m. to midnight. Tickets are $12 per person. For more information, see www.miamimetrozoo.com.
