Sports Utility Vehicle Crashed Into Home After Apparent ‘Police Activity': Authorities

Fire Rescue said there were no injuries

Authorities were repairing a Southwest Miami-Dade home early Saturday after they said a sports utility vehicle crashed into its corner.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue was on the scene at the 9500 block of SW 79 St. Battalion Chief Tony Garcia said the crash was "apparently the result of some type of police activity.”

“It removed the window and the complete corner of the structure,” Garcia said about the SUV. “There were structural stability issues that we had to deal with.”

Fire Rescue said there were no injuries, and that it appears people inside were sleeping on the opposite side of the home. Due to “severe structural damage to the building,” the occupants were told to find another place to stay for the night.

“We’ve informed them, just due to safety reasons, not to stay in the structure tonight until the structural engineer comes in and determines what needs to be done to the building and then they can go from there,” Garcia told NBC 6 South Florida.
