St. Thomas Aquinas has the best high school athletic program in the country, according to MaxPreps’ rankings released Monday.
The Fort Lauderdale-based high school won girls soccer, girls volleyball, boys cross country, boys lacrosse and football state championships.
The Raiders’ football program is ranked No. 6 nationally. The girls volleyball and boys lacrosse teams are also ranked in the national top 10.
MaxPreps uses a points system to create its rankings. Schools receive points for winning a state championship or finishing second.
St. Thomas Aquinas was awarded 930 points.
American Heritage in Plantation earned 684 points and was ranked No. 20.
