Video Shows Robbery of FIU Student in Campus Garage

The crime happened at Modesto A. Maidique Campus inside parking garage 6 near East Campus Circle

A student was robbed by armed suspects on the campus of Florida International University Friday in an incident that was caught on camera, FIU Police said.

The crime happened at Modesto A. Maidique Campus inside Parking Garage 6 near East Campus Circle.

The student was followed by two men after taking money out from a Wells Fargo bank on Flagler and Southwest 107th Street. The student then decided to head back to campus out of fear for his safety, FIU Police said.

The student and the suspects then got into an altercation in the garage and one of the suspects brandished a gun, FIU police said.

Surveillance footage showed the suspects, who were in a dark-colored Honda sedan, pull up behind the victim in the garage. After the robbery, the suspects tried to flee but the student jumped onto the front of their car. The suspects stopped and one pulled the student off the car, but he jumped back onto the car as it sped off and threw the student to the ground.

After taking the student’s money, the suspects fled off campus. The student wasn't seriously injured, officials said.
