Students Fall Ill at Lauderhill School Following Evacuation Drill

Seven kids were treated – including two taken to an area hospital – after complaining of feeling sick at a Lauderhill school Thursday morning.

Fire rescue crews responded to Paul Turner Elementary School shortly before 11 a.m.

According to officials, the students were outside under the sun during an evacuation drill. Once back inside, they told adults they felt ill and started experiencing symptoms of heat exhaustion.

Five of the students were treated at the school and went home with their parents. The other two were taken by ambulance to Plantation Hospital.
