Sunrise Police released new footage Thursday of a person they're trying to identify who was seen with a damaged car moments after a woman on a bicycle was struck by a hit-and-run driver.
The crash happened shortly before midnight on July 14 in front of the Chick-fil-A at 12600 W. Sunrise Boulevard, Sunrise Police officials said.
Police said Michelle Holguin was riding her bicycle eastbound on Sunrise Boulevard when she was struck by a car. The driver fled the scene, and Holguin was left severely injured and remains in critical condition.
Emma Blaine, one of Holguin's co-workers at Lester's Diner, told NBC 6 that Holguin had brain surgery.
"It's very sad," Blaine said. "It's hard to believe that somebody can [do] something like that."
The video released Thursday shows a car, possibly a 2013-2014 graphite blue or gun metal Nissan Sentra at the Mobil station at 12580 W. Sunrise Boulevard the night of the crash. The driver is seen getting out of the car and inspecting the damage, which includes a broken windshield and a dented front end, before he gets back in and leaves.
"We all make mistakes," Blaine said. "That was a big mistake but he made it worse by not even turning back."

Officials said at this time the person is not being named a suspect in the hit and run, but they are trying to identify him.
Police are asking anyone who recognizes the car or driver to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
