Police have arrested a suspect in the murder of a man who was found shot to death last week inside a luxury condo in Miami, authorities said.
John Stanton, 28, was arrested Wednesday on a first-degree murder charge in the killing of 34-year-old Marley Jackson, Miami Police said.
Officers found Jackson's body after they responded to the Blue on The Bay complex at Northeast 36th Street and 6th Avenue shortly before 1:30 a.m. Friday after reports of shots being fired, officials said.
According to an arrest report, Stanton and another person arrived at Jackson's apartment, where a witness heard a brief struggle followed by a gunshot. The report said the other person stole Jackson's Louis Vuitton messenger bag worth about $1,200 and the two fled the building.
Stanton was being held without bond Wednesday, jail records showed. Attorney information wasn't available.
Friends said Jackson was a custom jewelry maker.
"You would think since heβs a jeweler, you know, that they were coming for that so but everything was left alone," Elizabeth Dalman said.
