Suspect in Fatal Opa-locka Hit and Run Turns Self in: Police

The owner of a car that struck and killed an 84-year-old pedestrian in Opa-locka and fled the scene surrendered to police Friday, authorities said.

Marsel Oscar Reinoso, 33, surrendered to Opa-locka Police in the Wednesday crash that killed David Contreras, Miami-Dade Police said.

Charges are pending against Reinoso, police said.

The incident happened around 11 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Northwest 135th Street and 27th Avenue as the Contreras was trying to cross the street, police said.

Police said the driver struck the pedestrian and drove about a mile down the road, then stopped and abandoned the SUV and fled the scene on foot.
