Suspect Killed in Stolen Cop Car Crash With MLB Player Has Lengthy Criminal Record: Police

A 28-year-old man who was killed after he stole a Miami-Dade Police vehicle and rammed it into two other cars – including one holding the family of a Major League Baseball player – had a lengthy criminal record leading up this weekend’s incident.

Officials released the name of Vincent Foreman, saying he was the one who struck two cars Saturday while fleeing in a stolen police cruiser in Southwest Miami-Dade. One of the vehicles was driven by Atlanta Braves player and Miami native Sean Rodriguez – while Rodriguez’s wife and two children were hospitalized for injuries suffered in the crash.

According to records released Tuesday, Foreman had been charged with nearly 20 counts in various cases over the last five years. Many of the charges were for petty theft, but Foreman also had faced charges for robbery and burglary in various cases.

Police say Foreman stole the vehicle while an officer was dealing with a separate case near SW 107th Avenue and 16th Street. The cop car struck the two vehicles and burst into flames. Foreman was declared dead at the scene.
