Three suspects were taken into custody and authorities were searching for a fourth after officials said they rammed a police car while trying to flee near Sweetwater Thursday morning.
Officials said the incident began during a Miami-Dade Police investigation into boat thefts. Doral Police officers were making a traffic stop related to the investigation in the area of Northwest 107th Avenue and 14th Street when the driver of the suspects' car reversed and struck a patrol car, authorities said.
The suspects fled the scene but two, including the driver, were caught in the area of 11th Avenue and Northwest 12th Street. A female who remained in the car was also taken into custody.
A search was underway for the third suspect who fled on foot into a nearby wooded area, officials said.
The Doral officer suffered an arm injury and was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.
Two of the suspects, Alexander Hernandez and Alfredo Llanes, both 41, are facing multiple charges, including battery on a police officer, fleeing and eluding, and resisting without violence, officials said.
