SWAT Responds to Man With Gun on Roof in Lake Worth

Deputies and a SWAT team responded to gunman on a roof in Lake Worth Friday afternoon.

Authorities responded to calls of a mentally unstable man who fired a shot in the air in the 1700 block of South Federal Highway around 12:20 p.m., WPTV reported.

He was taken into custody following a standoff and was being evaluated by medical personnel.

The man, identified as 33-year-old Leroy Struthers, mentioned harming himself but no injuries were reported, officials said.

The surrounding area was evacuated as Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies, fire rescue units and a SWAT team responded.
