Take a Ride on Obama Boulevard

Broward names a street after the prez, but can't fit his name on the sign

Now some people in Broward can say they literally live on Obama.

West Park, Broward's newest and only predominantly black city, has beat other Broward cities to the punch and named a street after President Barack Obama. Seems appropriate considering the city's make up and it's "yes, we can" attitude. After all, the city nearly went belly up in its first two years of existence.

Barack Obama Boulevard will be the new name of SW 40th Street in the heart of the city, but people won't be able to say they are living on Obama until late July. The name's too long to fit on any street sign, so they had to be special ordered.

As a president, you know your big when you get your whole name on a street sign. Most get the last name treatment.

Opa-Locka was the first South Florida city to honor the president with a street sign, but they went with an even longer name. Try fitting President Barack Obama Avenue on letter head.
