Tampa Bay Man Guilty of Killing Boss and Her Husband

A Tampa Bay area man faces a possible death sentence for fatally shooting his boss and her husband.

A Hillsborough County jury found 35-year-old Julian Ospina-Florez guilty Tuesday of first-degree murder. The same panel will reconvene later this week to recommend life in prison or the death penalty. A judge will make the final decision.

Hector and Debra Rivera were found dead at their Tampa mansion in January 2012.

Ospina-Florez had worked for Debra Rivera as her driver and helper in her jewelry business. He called 911 after the shootings, claiming he had been tied up by an unknown assailant.

But authorities say the murder weapon, a gun found in a locked drawer, belonged to Ospina-Florez, and a box of ammunition with 10 rounds missing was found inside his car.
