A 16-year-old died after he was reportedly shot in the stomach in the West Little River area of NW Miami-Dade on Friday.
The shooting occurred at 8150 NW 14th Avenue. The victim was reported as dead on the scene.
"Devastating news on the first night of Winter Break. Our community must become safer for children and teens," Alberto M. Carvalho, superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, said in a statement. "Violence against young people cannot be tolerated. We are better than this."
